Egypt

As a year-round destination, Egypt has several locations; one of the top choices for November is St John’s. These fringing reefs are known for their diversity and many different types of topography, and all levels of divers can join these cruises.

Here you can find grey reef sharks, but they are also in Daedalus and Elphinstone as it is their yearly mating season.

With November having cooler sea temperatures in Galapagos it is a great time to see mola mola, penguins and sea lions. Thailand

The islands opened last month to liveaboards, marking the start of the Similan and Richelieu Rock seasons. In November the plankton blooms also start in full force, attracting the filter feeders to the islands of Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, Koh Haa and Hin Daeng as well as Hin Muang in the south Andaman.

A year-round destination but Palau in November is within the peak season, with the opportunity to see the rare spawning of the parrotfish during a couple of weeks in the month. Visibility is great, and of course there are the usual sightings of manta rays, sharks and large schools of fish along with great macro life.

Hawaii

Another year-round destination but November marks the end of the hurricane season and the arrival of the humpback whales on the search for their mates during the annual migration. The plankton-rich water also brings whale sharks, turtles, sharks and rays, with the highlight being the night dive with manta rays and blackwater night dive.

Raja Ampat - with some of the highest biodiversity in the world, Raja Ampat is high on every diver’s bucket list. Sitting in the middle of the coral triangle, it is well known for macro critters, colourful coral and some rare species. The month of November marks the start of the high season here as some of the boats move back from Komodo.

Bali liveaboards offer a chance to find the sunfish or mola mola; the sightings run from July to November so take this last chance to search for them this season.

Wakatobi has pristine reefs and amazing macro life, including the pygmy seahorse.

Costa Rica

From now until April you can look out for bull sharks in Costa Rica, around the Cocos and Malpelo Islands.

Cocos Island is one of the top locations in November with hammerhead shark sightings the highest of any location. They are not the only marine life around, there are also dolphins, whale sharks, tuna, turtles and many other shark species around.
